Video Motion Detection (VMD) is a common form of intelligent Video Analysis found in most IP cameras. IP camera systems can trigger alarm notifications when people or objects move within the view of the camera. In good quality systems the VMD is intelligent enough to recognise 'noise' within the image, such as swaying trees or birds, so that no alarms are raised unnecessarily.

More advanced intelligent video analytics can be used to alarm security staff of unusual patterns of activity or behaviour on site. For example, 'loitering' can automatically trigger an alarm with the security control room as can a 'stationary vehicle' or a 'left object'.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and Facial Recognition are other examples of Intelligent Video Analytics. Intelligent Video makes your site security less reliant on the alertness and observational capabilities of people. It makes your security operations more robust as a result.
